The Washington Monument

Go. Not just to the monument, but go inside. This distinguished landmark is, by far, my favorite of all the DC tourist locations. From the top you can see the entire city including the National Cathedral, the White House, The Capitol, the Jefferson memorial and many more. There is no reason to miss this great destination. There are three ways to go about getting tickets. 1) Call your congressional representative and ask them to secure tickets for you. 2) Order them online (www.nps.gov/wamo) which charges $1.50 service fee. 3) Every morning at 8:30 the box office opens up for day-of tickets. Typically the line begins to form around 7:30 or so, depending on the season. You can walk up and receive free tickets for a specific time that day.

The tickets are easy to get and the experience is one you will not forget.
